Hot Rolled sheets are produced by heating steel slabs above recrystallization temperature making them easier to shape and form
CR sheets are made at room temperature through a process called cold rolling.Process is carried out at below recrystallization temperature
Pressure applied is less in HR sheet because it undergoes a hot rolling process which result in decrease in pressure.
High Pressure Applied because the process involved passing the sheet through rollers at room temperature, which exerts more pressure on the sheet.
Due to the hot rolling process, hr sheet retain a low level of residual stress
and may exhibit a lower level of precision in term of thickness and flatness.
"Residual Stresses Are Generated" During the cold rolling the steel is compressed and deformed, causing internal stress to develop with in the sheet.
HR sheet have a rough surface texture and may have mill scale or layer of oxidized on the surface. This texture is beneficial for certain application where enhanced grip is required. So the rough surface of HR sheet serves as a purpose.
Process resulting smoother and more precise sheets with tighter dimension tolerance. Commonly used in application that require a high quality finish Such as automobile, manufacturing and construction.
